King John Square: And The Winner is….
TalkCondo is keeping close eyes on the John Street redevelopment. With the Entertainment District looking like it’s going to be a major hot spots for condo’s in the coming years, we’re very excited about all the redevelopment work the City of Toronto have planned for this area.
A couple of weeks ago we discussed the impact of the “King & John Square”, or the piece of dead land north of Metro Hall. The Entertainment District ran a competition and selected 5 finalists which were voted on through their website (www.torontoed.com). Today they announced the winner: Urban Ballroom.
Urban Ballroom is a very modern concept, that opens up the area and creates a space for people to “linger”, hang out, grab lunch all while looking modern and aesthetically pleasing. The space could also be used for events.
One of the main features of the design is the “web” that covers the top of the square, highlighted by solar powered globes that will give the space some unique definition.
Urban ballroom was was one of our favourite designs and we are really excited by the direction that Toronto is taking with their re-development of John Street.
