Cityzen Reveal Renderings for Clarion Hotel Redevelopment Project

Cityzen announced earlier this year that they had purchased the Clarion Hotel nearby Bloor & Sherbourne and had hired Chicago based architecture firm BKL to come up with a design that will “depart from the usual architecture” of the city.

The Clarion Hotel Redevelopment will feature a stunning new condominium tower at approximately 50 storeys tall.  The project will feature a unique orange design and will stand toe-to-toe with Tridel’s James Cooper Mansion

Naturally this had us standing up and taking notice; Cityzen are no strangers to going above and beyond when designing their condominium projects and are the proud developers of two of the most talked about buildings in the GTA: L Tower (designed by Daniel Libeskind, who also designed the new ROM in Toronto and the new One World Trade in New York) and Absolute Condos (designed by Beijing based MAD Architects).

Clarion Hotel is located nearby Bloor & Sherbourne which is a neighbourhood we have discussed in detail as an area on the rise.  Tridel’s recently completed “James Cooper Mansion” was the beginning of a turnaround of the much maligned St. James Town neighbourhood.

The Clarion Hotel will be featured in an unknown capacity at the base of the tower

The project will connect to the street in stunning style

Cityzen and Tridel will be joined by another of Toronto’s leading developers – Lanterra who also own a large parcel of land in St. James Town at 609 Sherbourne.  Lanterra plan to develope an incredible 1,800 new suites across 4 mega towers ranging between 46 and 56 storeys.

Bloor & Sherbourne is an area undergoing massive change and is an area that we have had our eye on for some time.  Despite the area’s troubled past, it has all the makings of a hot neighbourhood including excellent transit access (along the Bloor line and just steps to the Sherbourne station), excellent vantage point for views of Toronto and green space to the North (Rosedale valley) and now, three of the top developers that Toronto has to offer.

Specific details on this project are scarce, but TalkCondo will be first in line with information as it becomes available.  To stay in the loop, complete the registration form below!
