Earlier this month Lanterra flew out their top agents to London, England to announce their latest condominium project: The Britt Condominiums. The Britt is located at Bay & Wellesley and will replace the popular Sutton Place Hotel.
Brand New Design for the Old Sutton Place Hotel
The Podium will pay homage to the original design and a new "8 Storey Wing" will be added fronting on Wellesley
The Sutton Place Hotel was originally built in 1967 and featured a brutalist style of architecture (typified by blockish concrete). The new design will modernize the building featuring more glass and will add 10 storeys to the top of the building. The 375 suites will be converted into 600 residential suites.
The Sutton Place Original Brutalist Style
Hotel conversions have proven to be very popular in Toronto. In recent years, condominium conversions of The King Edward Residences (Le Méridien King Edward) and Yorkville Plaza (Four Seasons Hotel) have been extremely well received by pre-construction buyers.
The Sutton Place Hotel enjoys a rich history and has housed some world famous guests including Michael Jackson, Ted Danson and Sophia Loren. The hotel closed their doors on June 14th, 2012.
The Britt Condominiums is designed for those with a passion for the finest things in life and is inspired by British architecture. The project will feature amenities designed by Mung Leung including a very impressive two-storey lobby with a grand staircase. The building will also feature outdoor terrace featuring an outdoor swimming pool.
