Toronto Life Ranks Toronto’s Best Neighbourhoods

When it comes to the “Best Neighbourhood in Toronto”, everyone has an opinion, including Toronto Life.  The online magazine wanted to answer the question “where is the best place to live in Toronto” and ranked 140 different neighbourhoods in 10 categories (housing, crime, transit, shopping, health and environment, entertainment, community engagement, diversity and schools and employment) and gave each a ranking out of 100.  Needless to say, it was one hefty undertaking.

TOP 5 OVERALL:

  1. Rosedale-Moore Park
  2. Banbury-Don Mills
  3. High Park-Swansea
  4. Mount Pleasant West
  5. High Park North

(Popular condominium projects in these neighbourhoods: High Park Condominiums, E Condominiums, E Condominiums Phase 2)

When we look at pre-construction condominiums, we typically look at many of the categories highlighted by Toronto Life.  Categories such as Transit, Community Engagement and Employment are key factors in selecting locations for investing.  We took a closer look at the top 5 in each of these categories.

TRANSIT

Not unsurprising, the Subway system plays a big role in the quality of the transportation rankings with the top 3 offering quick access to the Subway network either via the Yonge, University-Spadina or Bloor lines.

We suspect that when this list is re-done in 5 years that Yonge-Eglinton will be in the top 3 of this list as Eglinton LRT will open for business.

  1. Church-Yonge Corridor
  2. Annex
  3. Bay Street Corridor
  4. Englemount-Lawrence
  5. Wychwood

(Popular condominium projects in these neighourhoods: 460 Yonge Condominiums, 365 Church, CASA 3 Condominiums, 1 Yorkville Condominiums)

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Community Engagement is a great way to identifying which neighbourhoods hold a strong sense of pride of ownership within the area.

  1. Waterfront Communities
  2. High Park – Swansea
  3. Wychwood
  4. Cabbagetown
  5. High Park North

(Popular condominium projects in these neighbourhoods: Harbour Plaza Residences, Ten York Condominiums, High Park Condominiums)

EMPLOYMENT

People like to live near where they work.  The new generation of buyers will pay a premium for CONVENIENCE.  The neighbourhoods with the jobs will always remain in demand.

Yonge & Eglinton is a terrific neighbourhood for work and play, and one that we have often touted as being one of the “next big neighbourhoods” (even though it is already one of the most popular…) as the new transit line will add more jobs, shopping and entertainment.

  1. Yonge-Eglinton
  2. Rosedale – Moore Park
  3. University
  4. Yonge-St. Clair
  5. Bedford Park

(Popular condominium projects in these neighbourhoods: E Condominiums, E Condominiums Phase 2, 2221 Yonge Condominiums, 155 Redpath Condominiums)
