The Top 11 Condo Projects in 2014

2014 was an incredible year for new condominiums in Toronto.  Toronto’s top developers were out in full force and launching some of the best condominium projects we have ever seen in Toronto’s top neighbourhoods.

Downtown Toronto Yonge Street was particularly active in 2014, with a number of new projects launching along the Yonge Street Corridor, all of which have sold supremely well.

As we look forward to the best condo launches lined up for 2015, below is our annual look back at our list of our favourite projects of 2014 – typically a top 10 list, this year we couldn’t narrow it down to 10 and instead have a top 11! (Listed Alphabetically)

1. 1 Yorkville Condos

1 Yorkville offered an amazing Yorkville location, just steps to everything that makes Yorkville the most popular neighbourhood in Toronto.

Bazis are known for delivering world class architecture and design, and did not disappoint with a stunning and eye catching design for 1 Yorkville which includes a mouth watering amenity space on the 60th floor rooftop.  The project was very well received, with many of the larger suites (including penthouses) selling out very quickly.

2. 50 at Wellesley Station

50 at Wellesley Station is located next door to the Wellesley subway station (hence the name “at Wellesley Station”) and offered excellent floorplans with very competitive prices.  Plaza purchased the land for 50 at Wellesley Station years ago and were able to pass on some of the savings on the land to the buyers, making this project very popular with investors.

3. Aquavista Condos

Aquavista was the latest project to launch in East Bayfront, one of our favourite emerging neighbourhoods in the City.  Toronto’s brand new waterfront community will (in our opinion) quickly become one of the most sought after once the infrastructure starts to develop.

Aquavista is as close to the water as you can get in Toronto without falling in.  Suites facing the lake were almost immediately snapped up (despite their hefty price tags of up to $3 million) showing that buyers definitely see this as a luxury location.

The architecture is straight out of Miami, and a 2nd floor rooftop area that you can practically go fishing from is a space we cannot wait to check out for ourselves.

4. Code Condos

Brian Brown of Lifetime called this a passion project.  Code Condos was developed in the neighbourhood that he grew up in and there was no detail left untouched.  Located across from Winston Churchill Park in Forest Hill, this condominium project was a rare opportunity to own relatively affordable residences in one of Toronto’s most expensive neighbourhood.

Code is already 100% sold out and under construction.

5. Core Condos

Core Condos was the first project to launch in 2014 and was sold out in 3 weeks.  The project was another huge success by CentreCourt Developments who offered incredible value for a downtown location, with prices in the mid to upper $500 per square foot.

6. Dundas Square Gardens

Dundas Square Gardens is an enormous condo building (with almost 1000 suites) located at the corner of Jarvis & Dundas, just steps to Ryerson University.  Buyers showed up in hoards trying to purchase suites with excellent and efficient layouts and very competitive pricing.  The suites were geared towards attracting students, and the Junior 2 Bedroom suites were particularly attractive.

Dundas Square Gardens is over 85% sold out and the developer is gearing up to launch Rosedale on Bloor Condos in the new year.

7. Minto Yorkville Park

Minto Yorkville Park is located in one of the most desirable spots in the City, right at the corner of Cumberland and Bellair in the heart of Yorkville just steps to the best coffee shops, restaurants and high end shopping.

The project was extremely well received, with buyers lined up to purchase the luxury suites priced from $1,000 per square foot, highlighting the demand for high end condominium living in Toronto.

8. Teahouse Condos

Teahouse Condos was the second project launched by Lanterra in 2014.  Located at Yonge & College with incredible access to two subway stations and all the major amenities that Toronto has to offer.

Teahouse launched in November and is already over 75% sold with the second tower expected to launch in early 2015.

9. VOX Condominiums

VOX was perhaps the fastest selling condominium project of 2014, with the developer boasting 100% of sales within just 3 days.

Excellent developer, downtown location just steps to the subway station, efficient floorplans and affordable prices were the recipe for success for VOX.  While specific details are not available, Cresford have announced they have plans to launch “multiple” new projects in the new year, and we can’t wait for more details!

10. Wellesley on the Park Condos

There was huge buzz for Wellesley on the Park before it launched, and the developer did not disappoint.  Lanterra decided to add a 1.6 acre park to the base of the project, something completely unique for a Downtown Toronto project where land prices are at all time highs.  The park adds a huge uniqueness to Wellesley on the Park, a project that already had a lot to offer.

Curvaceous architecture, excellent suite designs, high end amenities and excellent pricing had buyers lined up for days to purchase.

11. YC Condos

YC Condos was a huge success.  The project sits at the corner of Yonge & College virtually on top of the College subway station.  The development offers a number of unique selling features, including Aqua 66 – a 66th floor infinity pool with views of Downtown Toronto.

The project is already 99% sold out (with just a few penthouses remaining) and under construction.

There you have it! Congratulations to all the developers on the list and all the investors who were lucky enough to purchase at any of these incredible projects!
