Eglinton LRT Will Transform Yonge & Eg to Transit Hub

City living relies on transit.  Access to transit is one of the major factors when determining the quality of location and it is no accident that the current subway lines of Yonge, University and Bloor make them three of the most sought after locations in Toronto, not just for residential but also for office, retail and commercial space.

Yonge & Bloor is considered a major transit hub in Toronto that connects North & South with East & West.

The announcement of the brand new Eglinton LRT line that will eventually stretch from Pearson International Airport all the way to Scarborough will transform many of the neighbourhoods along Eglinton, and in particular Yonge & Eglinton District.  Below are the facts of the new line:

  • -$8.4 Billion infrastructure investment
  • -Will connect between 52km of new light rail transit
  • -Links to 54 local bus routes, three TTC interchange subway stations and GO Transit
  • -Construction is underway, with completion time expected in 2020
  • -Phase 2 of the LRT line will stretch from Jane to Pearson International Airport

The introduction of the Eglinton line has seen developers jump in to action and a number of new condominium projects will allow residents to take advantage of the new transit lines.  In addition, a brand new mall will be constructed on the west side of Yonge.

So what does all this mean to you? It means that Yonge & Eglinton is going through a massive transformation and now is the best time to invest in this neighbourhood.  Developers of all kind (residential, commercial, retail) are jumping on board and this neighbourhood is going to become a major transit hub for the entire City.  As the neighbourhood grows, so will the demand and the prices.
